RIP STP

That title probably isn’t the most accurate. According to my social media at around 3am, Stone Temple Pilots (and Velvet Revolver) front man Scott Weiland passed away. I didn’t read too much more, but instead thought of all of the great STP songs and Scott’s unique voice with that deep edge to it. Not just great songs, but versatile with interesting lyrics. I love lyrics.  So I thought I’d post some of my favorite ones from STP. I remember driving around as a teenager listening to Core on repeat.

From Dead and Bloated
I am smellin’ like the rose
that somebody gave me
’cause I’m dead & bloated

Ohh yeah, and she says it’s natural…

I run through the world thinkin’ ’bout tomorrow, thinkin’ ’bout tomorrow

From Creep
Take time with a wounded hand
‘Cause it likes to heal, I like to steal

I’m half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn
It fades to gray
Well, I’m half the man I used to be…

From Plush

And I feel it
And she feels it

Where ya going to tommorrow?
Where ya going with that mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?

When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it, to find it, to find it

From Big Empty
time to take her home
her dizzy head is conscience laden
time to take a ride
it leaves today no conversation…

From Sour Girl
She turned away, what was she looking at?
She was a sour girl the day that she met me
Hey! What are you looking at?
She was a happy girl the day that she left me
She turned away what was she looking at?
She was a sour girl the day that she met me
Hey! What are you looking at?
She was a happy girl when she left me

I want to say I’ve seen STP live, but I can’t remember for sure and I don’t keep as accurate records as Allan of all of concerts I’ve seen. Either way, good music and good memories. Rest in peace, Scott Weiland.
